the origin of the Minotaur

Did you know the Minotaur was a half human half bull monstrosity that was born resulting from an angered deity? The Grecian goddess of love and beauty, Aphrodite, cursed the queen of Crete to fall in love with her husband’s prized white bull because of her blasphemy. Queen Pasiphae was so passionately overtaken with desire that she persuaded the kingdom’s great inventor, Daedalus, to construct a hollow wooden cow in which she could satisfy her urges. One night she fit herself inside the cow and entered the bull’s pasture. The abomination that resulted from this meeting was thought to be the son of Minos, the Cretan king. It was thus named the Minotaur, or Minos’ bull. Minos, in order to hide this dark secret, ordered Daedalus to build the Labyrinth to house the Minotaur and his deranged wife. Inside the Labyrinth, the queen’s insanity grew and the Minotaur became the ferocious terror of Crete.

I didn’t know that and I can’t believe you did! I think I may be a minotaur, great and angry.

the bull was originally meant to be a sacrifice to Poseidon… that was the unfulfilled role of the bull.

it would have accomplished more in it’s death, but instead it’s vessel became the object for unnatural desires caused by malevolent action from Aphrodite.
