Yesterday I went to the horticultural and Japanese house in Philadelphia’s fairmount park (Shofuso Japanese House and Garden), going really inspired me to get a few easy to maintain plants around the house that would keep things looking good and vibrant. this is going to be my first summer growing anything and I also live in the city.. Unfortunately I don’t have a back yard… I have a roof top with tons of sunlight… Im already growing cherry peppers and chili peppers but looking for a few other easy plants. I noticed yesterday that many of the plants that were still in the green house were all up on tables, and the tables were made of decent plastic and had holes in them i think this might be a great solution to the easy on the joints part… no bending over and less weeds if the plants are higher off the ground.. I have also found that my local nursery has lots of advice go in and explain your situation and im sure they will have recommendations for your situation… hope i wasnt redundant and good luck.

My wife and I have a small garden here in Florida (which is in the midst of a 3 year drought) consisting of herbs, tomatoes, and peppers. It is in mostly pots and watered with our rain barrel (provided for free by the City of Tampa) that collects runoff water from our roof. We also have a local community garden as well as participate in a CSA (community supported agriculture). Check it out here: http://www.sweetwater-organic.org/
